Tourism CS Penina Malonza Flags Off Relief Food Distribution to The Starving Residents of Kitui County.

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Hon. Penina Malonza, on Saturday, joined Kitui county leaders in distributing relief food to starving residents of Mumoni in Mwingi North Constituency.
More than 3000 households from the Mwingi North constituency benefited from the program with other sub-counties in the vast county set to receive the relief food from tomorrow (Sunday)

Addressing the beneficiaries during the relief food Programme flagging event at Mumoni shopping Centre, the CS said the UDA government under the leadership of president Ruto was determined to ensure that no Kenyan dies of hunger.

The sub-county is among those worst hit by the ongoing drought in the country.
The move comes as the government scales up mitigation measures to save at least 4.5 million Kenyans affected by the ravaging drought.

The situation has pushed to limit the lives of Kenyans in at least 23 counties across the country.
An estimated half a million livestock and close to 2000 wildlife deaths have so far been reported in the drought-stricken counties due to lack of vegetation and water.

While calling on elected leaders from Ukambani to support president Ruto’s government the CS promised to work with all leaders across the Country for the success of her docket. Ms. Malonza also revealed that her ministry had set aside sh. 2.6 billion to compensate families whose relatives had been killed or maimed by wildlife in the months of August and September this year.

She was accompanied by the Kitui County Deputy Governor, Augustine Kanani, Kitui County Commissioner Erastus Mbui, Red Cross, and NDMA officials.
