Wilson Sossion denies widespread claims that he’s been appointed next TSC boss

Former Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has dismissed widespread claims that he is set to become the new Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission.

Amid widely-circulated reports indicating he would be taking over from the current CEO Nancy Macharia, the outspoken Sossion sought to set the record straight, terming the claims unfounded.

“My attention has been drawn to social media fake reporting that I have been appointed Teachers Service Commission CEO This is not true,” he said via his Twitter account

While calling on Kenyans to disregard the rumors, Sossion reiterated that there is an established mechanism through which the commission’s Secretary is recruited.

“TSC CEO is appointed through competitive advertising when a vacancy arises. Please ignore such rumors,” he said

Nancy Macharia’s tenure at the Teachers’ employer was extended in 2020 when the board renewed her term for another five years, meaning she will serve until June 2025. She was first appointed to the position in 2015.
