Amb. Kiema Condemns Taifa Leo Headline Against Kalonzo Musyoka
Kenya’s ambassador to Uganda and Kitui County Aspiring Governor Amb. Kiema Kilonzo has condemned the Taifa Leo headline against Kalonzo Musyoka terming it as twisted and sponsored to undermine the Wiper Party Leader’s Unstoppable presidential bid.
Kilonzo says it is in bad taste to try and create the impression that the fortunes of a National Party like Wiper could ever have depended on the outcome of just one MCA By-Election pointing out that Kalonzo Musyoka has outgrown Ukambani and it is sad to see tipped editors trying to “cook” funny headlines to undermine him.
BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT BY H.E AMB. KIEMA KILONZO ON TAIFA LEO HEADLINE AGAINST H.E. KALONZO MUSYOKA.
“I wish to condemn the twisted and sponsored headline of TAIFA LEO against Former Vice President H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka in the strongest terms possible. It is in very bad taste to try and create the impression that the fortunes of a National Party like Wiper could ever have depended on the outcome of just one MCA By-Election. Wiper Party Leader is a renowned Statesman, he has outgrown Ukambani and it is sad to see tipped editors trying to “cook” funny headlines to undermine Kalonzo’s Unstoppable Presidential Bid to Rescue Kenya in 2022.
The biased TAIFA LEO journalists and their masters must know that Kalonzo Musyoka’s Presidential Bid is due in part to public demand and in part to his track record as a Leader. Kenyans have studied him and found that he is the only man in the race who can boast of Integrity and can be trusted to get the job done for all of Kenya, not just his backyard.
If Taifa Leo Journalists had done their background check well, they would have found that even the Wiper Candidate for Kitui Governor in 2017, one Malombe lost to the incumbent Governor coming a distant third with less than 20% of the votes cast. Did that stop Kalonzo from delivering over 80% votes to NASA from Kitui in 2017?
Kibwezi West constituency has a long history of ignoring party lineup and electing Independent Candidates for MP and MCAs. For instance, the area MP is an Independent Candidate on his second term. In 2017, the Wiper Candidate, who has since defected to UDA, got less than 18,000 votes with an Independent Candidate, the incumbent MP, winning by over 40,000 Votes. Did that stop Kalonzo from delivering 93% of the votes for NASA in Kibwezi West, even higher than what Raila garnered in his own Bondo Constituency?
Needless to say, MCA Elect in Nguu Masumba was supported by a Wiper Governor (Kivutha) and a Former Wiper Aspirant for Kibwezi West (Mwengi Mutuse). For the record, in 2013, when Mutuse was the Wiper Candidate for Kibwezi West MP, he lost to the incumbent MP as an Independent, by more than 15,000 Votes but still, Kalonzo delivered Kibwezi West to the last man to CORD. The MCA Elect as the Incumbent MCA in 2017 got over 2,700+ votes while Wiper Candidate was a newcomer. Is it hard to see Maneno won with almost the same votes he got in 2017?
We cannot ignore the obvious shenanigans of UDA in Nguu Masumba to undermine the Wiper MP Candidate. Wiper MP Candidate for Kibwezi West in 2017 who led the Party nominations defected to UDA immediately after and backed a UDA candidate who split Wiper votes. We all know how Wiper beat Kivutha and his Muungano Party candidate in Kitise/Kithuki in March 2021 by more than 3,000 votes, where were the noisemakers then? Where was Taifa Leo when Wiper beat UDA in Machakos by a landslide?
Let’s face it: Raila lost a whole MP seat in Ugenya, in his Siaya County backyard, why didn’t TAIFA LEO say anything about it? Ruto’s own home area MP in Turbo is an Independent, Jubilee lost there in 2017, where was Taifa Leo then? Even recently, Ruto lost MCA By-Election to Jubilee in his own Eldoret backyard, why didn’t Taifa Leo run a headline about it?
The media must learn to respect National leaders and report objectively without twisting facts or pushing lopsided narratives. Nguu Masumba MCA By-elections are not a reflection of Kalonzo’s popularity on the ground. Kalonzo Musyoka has a fanatical following in Makueni as is the case in the rest of Ukambani and across entire Kenya. We should all follow the lead of H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka and wish the Independent Nguu Masumba MCA Elect Hon Timothy Maneno all the best. It is clear the people voted for their preferred candidate, not for any Party!”
