Comrades, there is no true social revolution without the liberation of women. May my eyes never see and my feet never take me to a society where half the people are held in silence.
I hear the roar of women’s silence. I sense the rumble of their storm and feel the fury of their revolt. Our women and the youth have been active in wage labor, subsistence farming, and the informal sector because over 40% of the poor households are headed by women, who form 80% of the rural population.
Barriers such as access to capital and credit, lack of opportunities, resources, training, and skills all stand in the way of women’s economic progress.
Hon. Rita Ndunge shall focus on building a solid women’s economic empowerment program.
